Husqvarna 460
« on: December 20, 2013, 05:22:16 pm »
Hello, New to this site...Need some advice please.

Put chain oil in the gas tank, got it out fast but did not have time to work on it.  Replaced the air purge bulb.  Flushed out the lines as best I could with Carb Cleaner.  Won't prime---I can run the saw by putting a bit of gas in the carb.  Is there a procedure I need to follow.

thanks

Fred

I've fought with this a few times on a Mac 32-14 I had with the oil tank in the rear and the fuel tank in the front. I never had any trouble with the purge bulb. Its getting enough bar oil out for that first start and then putting up with all the smoke.

You may have the purge bulb hooked up backwards?

Thought about that, the lines are cut to length, so the hoses just reach.  The purge bulb is keyed so it only goes in one way.  So its almost impossible to get them reversed.

thanks  But I don't want to admit the oil has plugged up the little holes in the carb...please say it aint so there has to be a easy button here somewhere.

Bar oil is very sticky, you might try replacing the fuel filter. Using the purge bulb may have drawn enough bar oil into the plastic element of the filter to clog it.

I try to back flush them with fuel mix to get the bar oil out of the fuel filter.
