Yes, but most likely a joint venture in reality - but put together by Zenoah.

Also, I have notised at least one quality difference between  the GZ4300 and the 543xp - the chain catcher is polymer on the 4300, and metal on the 543xp, based on the pics I have seen of both models. I wouldn't be surpriced if the same is the case with the clutch covers?

Yep noticed all of that as well, as with the tensioner being upside down on one.

Around here the Redmax version of a saw runs $150-200 less than the equivalent Husky.

I'm a study of history, funny how Made in Germany is held to such high regard whilst made in Japan holds so much angst.  Not to make this a WW thread but they both attacked us and they both make good chit today.   Heck even in post WWII little old Japan gave us a run trying to take the main land....Regardless of animosity, both countries make good product.

Echo and Shinny make some impressive equipment.  Besides, if the 543 underachieves, it's all that much easier to attain the "40%"  :o

I liked the old redmax before the buy out. Maybe the redmax 4300 543 will be just as nice.

Imo, Zenoah (Redmax in the US) is the only really decent Japanese chainsaw brand - but the quality and design still isn't really on  Husky pro saw level.
My issue with Stihl and Dolmar is that they seen to have forgotten how to make light and well handling saws.

It is already clear that they aren't exactly the same saw - but the extent of the differences aren't known to me yet.

I have to admit that I don't really like the looks of either, compared to traditional Husky xp saws - but time will tell.....

Also, I always suspected that the 543 really was a Zenoah design, after I saw the first pics of it -
so this was no surprice to me.
