I used the 545 again today. First I sharpened the 3/8" square with a free hand file. Gassed and oiled the chainsaw

The 545 started up with a couple pulls with the choke on and then a couple with the choke off and away she went. No lean low speed or anything.

I cut up 4"-6" limbs to firewood length for a while and The 545 ran flawless from the beginning and remained that way. I'm a old guy so I got tired. The temperature was in the low 80's but the humidity was very high. I thought I'd get a bigger saw ready to noodle some of the crotches . . . .

Checked my chain. Looking at the chain, There was little detectable evidence that it had dulled any today. I opened the gullets a little and resharpened the chain and then checked the rakers. I found a couple rakers that were marginally high. The chain is a 3/8" LGX that I made square - first with a Atop and later I ran it through the square grinder. This time I thought I would resharpen it with a file to compare the effort compared to round filing. Square sharpens up as easy as round chain is my conclusion.

I then went on to one of my 365's and touched up the round chain and gassed and oiled this chainsaw as well to. Then company came and that was the end of the chainsaws. Oh well . . . The crotches will be some other day.

We should share what we know... someone may learn...
That knowledge can live after us... and that "Pays It Forward".
Be all that you can be . . .
