Husqvarna 55

My Husquvarna 55 will start up like normal and idles great. I can open it up all the way up and it screams. After about 30 seconds it shuts off just like it lost ignition.  I have replaced the following: spark plug, Fuel line, Coil, fuel filter. I went through the carb and everything look fine. I do have a carb kit on the way as well as a new vent for the fuel tank. I am running out of ideas. Has anyone ever experienced anything like this?

I have not touched that saw....but plastic gets funny with age, presence of oil and temperature changes......check the ignition switch for continuity while cold, and once again right after it dies...you might be surprised and find out it is nothing more than an old ignition switch which shorts across when hot enough.

Sounds like it could be a tank vent or coil. After it dies, crack open slowly the gas cap close to your ear & see if you hear a suction sound.  If you do, that may be your problem, especially if it starts up just after that check.   I know you said you replaced the coil.  Sometimes you can get a bad replacement, even when new as I did on several occasions.  Aftermarket or otherwise. A bad coil can work fine until it gets warm.  Pull plug right after it dies, and check for spark.  If all checks out ok, you can move on.  Also, make sure there is a tight connection on that short impulse line from carb to bulkhead,  That's a common problem area on these saws.  May not be causing the problem you have now, but you do want it secure.  Good luck with it.  Those 51-55s are good ole saws. :)


Note:  Mr. Morgan has a good idea about the ignition switch.  Could be that as well.   They do go bad.

Husqvarna 55 46mm that came in tag shows 2005. Pulled over little hard with very very short rope someone had put in it. 😲
I was thinking scored but nope looks sweet like new piston. So maybe crank bearings got little rusty setting somewhere.
Can part out or sell whole. No clutch cover or top cover. Air filter is remove now and had nut rusted to retaining bolt. So she has been bent back to get to 3 bolts inside.
