Husqvarna 570 saw in need of a carburetor
« on: August 06, 2020, 03:14:00 pm »
I have a Husky 570 that is in need of a carb but Husky quit making them.  Is there another brand carb that will work with this saw?  Original carb is an EL28A Zama.

Most times they just need a rebuild kit. Have you tried that first?  Rebuild Kit    RB-130  or just a dia kit GND-71

Update:  I put a rebuild kit in the carb and now it idles great but when you try to go past half throttle the saw will just die out and get real boggy then you have to feather it to let it catch back up.  I trimmed the EPA stop off the adjusters in order to get it this far.  I have tried running the saw in wood and tried adjusting the H and L and nothing seems to help it run on top end while it’s cutting or not cutting.  It hates getting to topend.  I am about to label it a quitter

Update:  I tried bending the needle arm up a smidge hoping that would let the needle open a little more but it still bogs just like before

Update
Update
The pulse line was clear and blowing out when I pulled the rope.
With the saw running and I give it enough throttle the saw will start bogging when the lower butterfly starts to open and when you go WOT it starts blowing air out while it try something to bog down.
Is the saw low on compression? I tried to perform a compression test but it would not pump up any pressure on the tester gauge.... am I missing something?

I looked down the carb side not the muffler side yet.  Carb side looked good and top of piston looked good.

Exhaust side needs checked.  Pull muffler IMO

570 575 576 know for air leaks and burning them up.   http://chainsawrepair.createaforum.com/husqvarna/husky-576xp-rebuild/

The carb is still available. Same unit is used on the 570, 575, and non auto-tune 576. It is pricy. Not every carb responds to a rebuild.

Two easy things to test for air leaks are the fuel line and the impulse line. Then spray some carb clean under the flywheel and behind the clutch while it's running to test the crank seals.

Update
Found a scores piston on the exhaust side... ordered a new 49mm piston kit and gasket set... I will update after the rebuild.... maybe I found it
Old piston looked as if it got pretty hot due to the black discoloration down the skirts of the piston.  Cylinder was not hurt or scored in any way.  I don’t know if this discoloration was normal for a saw.
