There has to be a reason for it.
Hard to believe it is just this as there is two models of starter.
Printing decals at this point in time was not as easy or cheep as it is today. Test saws and window dummies usually had wrong decals or none.

The model number is not a indication of cc. Fingerpoint at best...

Biggest seller of the Tomos built Husqvarna saws was 65 and it was All export in all markets, not just eastern as SawTroll indicate in his post.
Quite the opposite actually.

I know that - the reason i pointed eastwards regarding the saw in question is the lack of knowledge about the model among us.

Also the 61, 66 and 266 has been made by Tomos, and the one in question looks like it belongs to the same "family".

Yes, it could. If these 60Rancher decals are wrong for this saw those 60Rancher decals would have been used on right saw then and that would still not answer the question.

Usually when wrong decals was used it was when there was no right ones to use.

Is there a top end, carb etc. in this saw, or is it just the outside parts that are present?

I'd guess, (since all we can do is guess), that the cylinder would be the standard 61 item. Creating another cylinder is far more involved than simply creating another model. That large decal gives a good indication of the era it was made. That is what I call the "hard plastic decal" that snaps in, rather than one that is peeled and held with adhesive. That was used on the 50 Special and some gray top 55's, Partner based 40/45 and such. I know you guys all know this, just trying to pin down when it was made. Other point is that I thought that "rancher" was dropped from the 61 when it went from the white top to the gray top. Is that correct? Not sure what that means, just thinking out loud. Could be some marketing idea to create another model to fill some perceived gap in the line up. As far as it being the wrong decal, just the fact that it was manufactured indicates that the model, or at least the idea, actually existed.

I could be similar to the 556 that is the large mount 555 that's in the book but may never exist anywhere else.

Good to read you!

The starters is odd. This one has older, small, square decal one as well as newer. But steel framed break handle.

White top 61 was in Praktica series here first, then named Rancher and was Rancher with gray cover too. I think the last was orange and no rancher.

I think we get confused as there is different saws for different markets and we don't get to see all no matter were we are.
I don't see many of the export saws here like 562, 66, 166. Here is a couple odd ones I have in collection: 445SE/SG, 644.
Odd versions and models pop up constantly.
