I just took this husky 66 in trade. What can you tell me about them? So far a missing carb what carb was on them?

I have never dealt with this model and closes thing I had was a 266xp I traded for and then traded off because I learned no parts interchanged with my 2 262  :-[

We had them for a year or two. They were one tough saw. If I remember correctly they were open port. Been a few years though so may be wrong.

Pretty sure I have a 66 carb here.  I bought a parts saw for the ignition and stripped it down.  Not alot of 66's around.  The gillardoni cylinder on mine was of VERY nice quality.  It is an open port 50mm bore.  Are you missing the entire intake, or just the carb?

Havent got that far yet. Sorry.  Just a glancing look under cover while going to shelf.

I noticed this one has metal brake handle and the one on Mike Acres site has plastic handle ??

The 66 was only on the market for a short time. Maybe 2 to 4 years??? I think they were all gray top saws. The switch from the metal to plastic chain brake handle on many Huskies took place during that time frame.

The 66 uses the same open port P&C that was later used on the non-XP 268, as well as on the 268K construction saw. (The jug in the box looks like it's from a 372)

Don't see many of them, as it's a pretty rare model.

The IPLs go from 1987-06 to 1991-02, but that isn't exact info on the production time.

Regarding the carb, the one listed in all the IPLs was the HS224A.

I got a HS260 off a 272 laying somewhere on a shelf. I wonder  :-\

The other saws that used the HS224 was the 266SE from about 1985 and later the XP , the HS 260 was used on the differernt 268s and the 272xp - so I guess it isn't a direct fit.....

Does the HS224 on the 66 have idle screw built onto carb like the HS260 carb or is idle screw on the saws body itself and reaches over to carb to adjust linkage that way?

I don't know that - I am not a tech, I just happen to have collected some info, out of general interest.

If memory serves, I believe the 66 used the same jug as the later 268 open-port, btw - but not the same carb.
