Husqvarna based rescue saw
« on: March 07, 2014, 12:54:07 pm »
A guy called me looking for advice on what he called a Husqvarna 372 rescue saw. Some folks call a cut-off saw a rescue saw. Others are referring to those saws used by fire departments to vent burning buildings. IDK that Husqvarna ever made the FD type of saw but do know that the only cut-off saw was a 371K not a 372.

Has any one ever seen one, the FD type I mean? Do the FD types actually have an oiler and other features found on a chain saw?

Univent sells a 372 rescue saw.  Using a 372XPW.   IIRC Baileys used to sell them.   http://www.unifireusa.com/ventSaw.php#features http://unifireusa.com/PDF/Complete%20Chain%20Saw%20Manual.pdf

There was a older one on the 272 platform too.

There is a member here that has both that lives south of me.  He posted pics of them many years ago.

Don't think husky made them either, they're aftermarket conversions aren't they?

I have worked on several of the husqvarna fire dept rescue saws here.    They have carbide chain and special guards on the front of the saw.   So they do have oilers.    I replaced the bar on one because they had mushroomed the sprocket nose and did not want to replace it.
