Magnus, I agree completely with your thoughts and observations. All our printers, copiers etc that are connected send their opertional state, and software status back to Xerox on a scheduled basis. It is not hard to upload data back to HVA but people need to do it just as you said.

I agree that doing so will lead to fewer problems and earlier warnings o HVA on problems.

Perhaps HVA could train the factory reps on how to connect the diagnostic tools and upload data and they could train the dealers. However it may be that the dealers think that doing this is work they are not getting paid for and are not doing it for that reason.

There are and always will be those dealers who think that a 5 minute software upgrade on a customers saw will reduce service revenue, how much could they actually charge for this service. In my area dealers are charging 65-100$ an hour for labor to repair a saw!
