Saw Wouldn't Start
« on: August 21, 2012, 01:58:45 pm »
I just bought a nice looking Husky 362 Special.

Trying to start it - it wouldn't hit a lick. I kept pulling on it with the choke on and finally it sputtered. I pushed the choke off and it started right up but didn't run long before it leaned out and quit.

I went through this several times.

The saw had a good known carb on it just removed from a Husky 372 last month.

I pulled the cover and the air filter and there was the problem in plain sight. The impulse line that runs the pump in the carb was kinked between the carb and the baffle for the air box. To get the kink out, I had to cut 1/4" from the length of the pulse line. Actually the pulse line on this chainsaw has very few turns to it.

Chainsaw then started up normally for one that had run out of gas.

Apparent the engine vacuum itself was pulling gas up through the carb with the choke on.

I had the same thing happen to me with a 7900 and a kinked impulse hose, It would idle, but not rev,

Just adding to thread if this means anything.

That 3750 that the impulse line came off the cylinder nipple. Would start with choke and run with half choke. Die if choke was all the way off.
