Husqvarna parts & prices down under...
« on: June 14, 2015, 09:28:19 am »
A young fella posted on my YouTube channel some trials and tribulations dealing with parts in AUS.... was looking for advice on AM top ends for a Husqvarna 390XP... I never used any of those AM top ends for 385/390 builds. Any thoughts on those? All the places that sell them seem to have the same product offering, unlike the 272 and 372 AM offerings where there seems to be a plethora of manufacturing outfits making top ends. Does Meteor sell 390 top ends? What about other European suppliers? Or are they all pacific rim.

If I had gotten the used 385 I was going to try a afm 390 topend. But guy in front of me took it.

I was going to try this one. $129   http://www.hlsproparts.com/Husqvarna-390-cylinder-kit-p/h30391.htm

It is a bit of a dilemma here in Aus, high prices are an issue without a doubt, gov't import duties certainly stuff us over when buying locally. I personally try to buy as much as I can through local dealers to keep them in business, when you do if you are in a bind to get something they will help as much as they can. One dealer I used to deal with (I have since moved 800km away) would work late to make sure saw was ready to work in the am if there was an issue with it, if not he would give me his personal saw to keep me working (contract faller), as a young bloke starting out on his own it meant a lot. If you go a number of days without being able to work because you are waiting for parts to show up the dollars you miss out on stack up pretty quick. Ever since I do my best to to keep the locals going wherever I live.
Just my 2 cents

It doesnt help that at the moment the aussie dollar is dead in the water 74.78 against a USA dollar and then when you use paypal it drops another couple of cents in the exchange, this comment was only meant to say that for us at the moment stuff is expensive
