It is a bit of a dilemma here in Aus, high prices are an issue without a doubt, gov't import duties certainly stuff us over when buying locally. I personally try to buy as much as I can through local dealers to keep them in business, when you do if you are in a bind to get something they will help as much as they can. One dealer I used to deal with (I have since moved 800km away) would work late to make sure saw was ready to work in the am if there was an issue with it, if not he would give me his personal saw to keep me working (contract faller), as a young bloke starting out on his own it meant a lot. If you go a number of days without being able to work because you are waiting for parts to show up the dollars you miss out on stack up pretty quick. Ever since I do my best to to keep the locals going wherever I live.
Just my 2 cents
