Husqvarna 142 running hot...
« on: October 02, 2013, 11:36:30 pm »
I have a Husqvarna E-Series 142 chainsaw that I bought new in the box, and before last Friday, it had never been run. I got it going no problem and after a short time, I noticed that it was running really hot, so hot that it heats up the handle bar making it too hot to touch. It didn't take long for it to get hot, I'm talking mere minutes. I used it on Friday and Saturday and while the heat was still a problem, it ran just fine. But on Saturday, a while after using it, it started to sound funny and it just quit. I got it started the next day with no issue, but the heat remained the same. My question is, what could be making the chainsaw run so hot and could it be an easy fix?

Probably too lean in the fuel mixture needles?

Not enough two-stroke perhaps?

Probably on that model you need a special splined screw driver to adjust the carb needles?

I think so. Would that be something you kind of play with until you get it right?

Yes, but you need to know how the engine sounds when it is correct or you may burn the engine up?

Get someone to help you set it correctly
