HUTZL Chinese parts from Hong Kong
« on: September 26, 2013, 10:30:20 am »
Needed a complete tank for a 372, decided to try Hutzl. Well, I am not impressed! Fuel hoses were soft and sticky right out of the box.

Decided to test the tank for leaks before going any further:
Tank leaked from the fuel cap, replaced with OEM cap leak stopped,
Then let the tank sit with fuel in it, came back in an hour, tank was leaking from bottom seam :-[ junk!

Drained fuel from tank and notice that filter was loose in tank, went to fish the line out and it disintegrated in my fingers!

Throttle cable is metal on metal, caps are junk, trigger and interlock will never hold up in daily use, more junk!

Just posted an ad for a used husky tank to replace this one.

Hope others have better luck!

No, not a surprise however it was a worthwhile learning experience. If only Husqvarna would realize that they could kill this 'gray' market by dropping spares prices enough that buyers would choose OEM over after market for the quality of the product. IMHO it is the cost of OEM over AM parts that is driving buyers away from OEM.

Well, if the tank that you bought is typical of the aftermarket quality that the OEM's are competing against, then what would be the reasoning for them to match the price of something like that?

When I was into rebuilding this series. 362 365 371 372.  I stocked up on a good deal on 4-6 new oem tanks and the rest were used oem tanks.

I was told a few years ago by a guy that skimped and bought a afm tank to stay clear of the 372 tanks in afm.

Just a few I had left in the build stages. Might see a loose tank in this pic and the rest were put on saws already.

I am not suggesting that OEMs drop their prices to match the AM junk. Only that they consider reducing or controlling the price escalation a little. There is no way the OEMs can compete with 50 cent a day labor cost or no government regulation.
