Industry numbers for seals
« on: May 21, 2014, 10:33:14 am »
I need industry numbers for Husqvarna crankshaft seals
503260301 clutch side seal
505275719 flywheel side seal

Failing that the metric sizes would do if anyone has them.

Want to find a source for Viton seals as well as standard double lip with garter spring.

I measure the seals as 15 X 26 X 4.5 for the flywheel side
and 17.5 X 26 X 4.5 for the clutch side.

I measured a crank on the flywheel side and a sleeve on the clutch side.

I was trying to get an industry number for the seals used in a 372xp. I want to find a source for the seals in bulk instead of a set at a time. I would also like to find non-Chinese made.

I ran into a situation that I still have not figured out. I was rebuilding a 372 and all was going well, until the pressure/vac test. I had a leak on the clutch side. Had replaced the bearings, case gasket and clutch side o-ring and both seals. Leak was so bad saw would not hold any pressure at all.  Needless to say I immediately suspected the clutch side seal and that was the leak. Pulled it and installed a new one, saw still leaked. Could not tell if the leak was coming from between the crankshaft and the seal or between the seal and the case. But that ran me out of seals. Even replaced the o-ring.

Do you put any sealant like stihls dirko around the outer edge of the seal? Where the metal meets the case. Stihl recommends that you do it that way in the service manual. I have done it that way on all the seals that I do weather stihl or husky. Have had good luck with it. Just a thought.

Good idea, I will try it today, and let you know when the sealer sets up. Thanks!
