What do you guys think of the 395 and is there any down falls that come with it?

I know the local Husky dealer as three of them on sale right now. They look nice setting there.

$949 w 24" I looked at the numbers on two of them and they were made in late 2010.

They would be fine saws in big wood

ms460woodchuck wasnt you at the Poulan gtg?    660 and me was too if it's you I am thinking of.

BIG wood saws

I dont know anything bad or prone to break about the 395's. Never owned one but have ran several different ones in the past.

They run nice and are smooth in big wood. They oil a lot better than a 660 too.

I have built alot of 395's and had a couple for myself, this is what I think of the 395, in stock forum I hate the saw , way to heavy for its power and cuts slow  but once modded a very good saw with alot of power , the 395 picks up alot in power once ported ,

I have a 2008 Husky 395 -32" I bought new 3 yrs ago. It came from the factory with a little 7 tooth 3/8 rim sprocket. It seemed like it was always coming on with the rev limit, so I put a 8T rim on and the problem went away.
Good smooth power ,better compared to my Stihl 066 Mag but I don't think it would be as durable as my 066 over the long haul. From how the carb is mounted on that spongy intake for example I have my doubts for toughness.
But you know the 394-395 design has been around as long as the 066 so its got to be a good saw if their still making it. Too bad Husky couldn't put a side tensioner on the 395, but I guess they probably don't sell alot of those big saws so why bother. Husqvarna probably is testing a 95-100cc saw right now to replace it.

Its a tough sounding saw with a stock muffler, I bent the exhaust outlet flap restrictor out and it really sounds tough. I don't have alot of hours on the saw, so every festival chainsaw carving compertition I loan it out to the carvers to slab their big spruce blocks.
Making a living with a saw since age 16.

It would be better if it had an inboard clutch and a side chain tensioner. JMO

I can remember about 6 or 8 years ago we had a competion in the winter time and Husky was the sponsor so they sent us a couple stocksaws  to race , 1 was a 395 , it had already been to a show but as soon as I fired her up I shut her off , 3/8's bar and chain but a 7 tooth .404 gear on her ;D

CHAINSAWREPAIR to answer your question about the poulan gtg...I was'nt there this past year but I was there the year before which was the first one that Gregg held. It was a great time and my son enjoyed it as much as I did!
