Model and Cylinder ID
« on: April 08, 2016, 11:36:26 am »
I'm looking for some help identifying my Husqvarna chainsaw. I've owned it since 1994 and I thought it was a Model 61, but I could not tell since the SN plate had been damaged. However, I'm in the process of replacing the piston/cylinder and the cylinder fits perfectly. The problem is the hole pattern in the cylinder does not match the manifold. I have looked on some websites at exploded views, but it's a formidable task since there are so many models. Does anyone recognize the attached cylinder hole pattern? The new one has been installed. Also, I was wondering if I could buy a new manifold that would match my Tolotson carburetor. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,
M51

Thank you aclarke. From what I have found you may be correct. I thoroughly cleaned the old cylinder and found some additional ID information. BTW, the cylinder has V MAHLE embossed on one side of the cylinder, and this on the other 50ZN13W8. The piston has MAHLE embossed on the inside along with the following: 60L49. Is Mahle the mfg. or something to do with the design?

Mahle is the manufacturer.

Thank you, Mdavlee, for answering my question. I did find another post that had a picture of a cylinder with the same numbers as mine, and it was on a model 266XP. Was this particular Mahle cylinder (50ZN13 W8) used on other models, and does anyone know if they are still available? So far I haven't found any, but I'm still looking.

Regards,

That I do not know. I have a 266 I can pull the cover off in a few days and look at the numbers on it.

Mdavlee,

I appreciate your offer to solve the mystery. I've learned enough now to know that they used a lot of like components in different models.

It certainly is a 266 cylinder, and I don't believe they were used on any other models.

Thank you so very much Saw troll. I'm going to order a cylinder kit made by Tecomec. From what I've been reading they are of good quality. Do you have an opinion about them, or do you have any other recommendations?

Also, thanks again to all of you that have provided help to me. I have learned a lot and still have much to learn, but it's fun.

I can't comment on that specific kit, but believe Tecomec is among the better aftermarket cylinder makers.

Btw, which carb model is on the saw?
