Need a bigger saw
« on: July 28, 2014, 10:40:54 am »
I have a Husqvarna 50 Special that I bought new years ago, it's been the most trouble free saw ever-(until recently, but it's ok) and love it. I recently started burning a lot of wood for heat and need a bigger, more powerful saw for felling and bucking to length.I want to buy new. I cut all hardwoods so I'm thinking around 60-65 cc and 20" bar length more or less. Any recommendations based on experience?

Some pretty good deals out there on 365XT saws. The 365/372XT are the same saw, 365 a little cheaper but can be turned into a 372XT by removing and altering the transfer port covers. Member here Spike60 has some pretty good pricing on the 562XP, Spike60 is a Husqvarna dealer located in central NY.

60cc If you prefer small mount bars like your 50. Look at the husky 555 basically detuned 562.   Jonsered 2260 small mount version of 562.  562 large mount husky.

Spiltting hairs here, the 555 actually is a detuned 560xp (not 562xp), and the 2260 basically is the 560xp (again not 562xp). The 2258 is the 555, with the usual Jonsered features - different colors (much prettier) and plastic cover shapes, the dang streight-across handlebar, and an ounce or two more weight.

The 562xp is the heaviest in the "family", because of the large bar mount and the larger air filter and top cover.

We dont sale the 560xp here so we only have the 562xp to compare the 555 2260 to.

I know, I just find it appropriate to post the full story now and then.

Btw, I kept the 556 out of the story, as I have never heard of a single production one.  ;D

60cc will do fine! I'd get a 555 or a 562xp...
