Just got to share some pics from Robin Wood from Malaysia.

He is the one that shipped the new echo 1201 to Lee.   He is setting up to ship to us in the usa if you are really wanting the old school saws.

Cool!  I bought 3 new ms720 saws a couple years back and a set of 090 cylinders from a contract in Mexico. Interesting that a lot of the older saws are still being produced for certain countries.

Not cheap.  He quoted me $1450 (disassembled, packed, and shipped) for one, or $1395 each for three or more.  He has to disassemble them so that they're "chainsaw parts" rather than a complete saw to get past the government types.  Too much for me to spend on a saw.  If I had that much burning a hole in my pocket then.....

To much for me also, I have to settle for old Poulans and 150 dollar 2100's.

I guess if your dead set on an old saw that is brand new then that is what it cost.

Good question.  Parts are starting to end up NLA unfortunately.   The high top covers (not used on the Brazil made saws being sold in Malaysia and elsewhere) are NLA, as are the HD filter elbow.  The op-pres lever spring recently went NLA.  Most other stuff still appears to be available for now anyways....

I assume the parts are availiable at least on the markets where the saws are still sold, with the possible exception of some optional stuff. However, they may not be availiable on all markets - I don't know Husky's policy in that area?

Looks like most stuff is available here. Doesn't look like the crankcase is though. ..

I'll have a look at the crankcase availability, but I've yet to run into any NLA parts for 288's or 272's as they are still being built in Brazil. Even OEM cylinders for both saws are produced in Husky's Brazilian factory. (and are nice quality).

At about $1500, I'm guessing you could build one for yourself rather than have it shipped in. Either way you have to put it together, which is no big deal for most guys here. Since building your own isn't a legitimate factory saw with a serial number, you could save some money by going aftermarket on some of the external parts such as plastic, chain brake cover, handles, etc.

I've thought of this for a long time, and it would make for a fun project. Problem is, I'd just be buildiing a shelf queen. I've got got 3 decent 288's to play with, so a new one would just sit there.

EDIT: took a look; 288 crankcase is NLA.
