The newest 660s have KS cylinders.  They're plated nicer than the mahle ones to me. There have been a few 460 cylinders with a black ring of death at the top of the bore.

Niko, I hardly ever see a Stihl so I don't know about their Brazilian cylinders. Wouldn't be surprised if they are also KS. Country of origin may not be on the actual part, but is nearly always on the packaging it comes in. So a Stihl cylinder in the box might tell us more than one in a saw.

Now what's a "black ring of death" in a 460 cylinder? lol

Unfinished plating above the top of where the rings ride. Usually the top .125"-150". It doesn't make any difference unless you're cutting bases and chambers to drop exhaust.

......

I wouldn't either, when the Brazilian Husky ones are.  ;)
However, there has been quite a few complaints on non-Mahle Stihl cylinders, and no referense to KS markings (or any brand marking but Stihl), so I am in doubt... ???
KS markings are subtle though, and you really need to know what to look for.

I've seen a couple stihl badged only and some with KS on them. The chambers aren't as nice on some of the stihl branded. The plating wasn't finished all the way to the top.
