Pull the bar and chain off and run it with the oil cap off (partially full/hold saw at angle) as well to rule out an oil tank vent issue.

the oiler is a 'wear item not covered by warranty'.

I don't think of the oiler as a 'wear item' on a new saw.  Chain, bar, and sprocket are wear items. Maybe spark plug and filters.

Contact Husqvarna and tell them your story, and that the local authorized dealer is threatening to charge you for warranty work.

My neighbor and I have these saws.  His has been used fairly well, mine has about 8 tanks of gas through it.

His stopped oiling the chain, he cleaned it and it worked fine after.

Mine stopped prior to his, I've cleaned it with no success.  I've bored out the EPA hole, no success.  However, I did not have a lot of time to work on it so I've not gone any further.  I'm posting more as a bookmark, but I've noted that some people have this problem and it does not seem great for a fix.

I'm going with a thorough cleaning and validation the pump and so forth is not busted.   This thread is interesting though.

Check and make sure the clutch drum is spinning the driver and the driver is spinning the oil pump

I have seen those plastic gears strip out but, it is usually due to the pump going bad or a lot of debris caught up behind the cover plate.

Will do.  I am a chainsaw novice and have it to gather fire/cooking/smoking wood.  I got tired of paying for it all these years when people give it away for free.

With that said, is it reasonable to manually oil the bar/chain if I have problems like the OP and can't get it to oil the chain automatically?  That will be a pain in the butt, but I doubt I'll be able to exchange the saw at this point.

I've seen guys with a assistant using a squirt can to oil the chain in a cut?

Theoretically it's possible. Soak the chain, and use a squirt/ spray bottle to hit the chain periodically. Crosscut sawyers do this. Pain in the *** for any length of time.

I had the oiler on a pole saw go out on me once. Took the chain off and dipped in in bar oil periodically. Fixed the oiler as soon as I could.

Good suggestion aclarke, I will try that to see if it is a venting issue.
Thanks

Yes I agree with you Philbert, but apparently Husky don't see it that way, and doesn't care if they loose customers. Even the OP of this thread had the same issue, and had to replace the oiler parts themselves. Only other option is to pay a dealer to find and fix the issue.
