My neighbor and I have these saws.  His has been used fairly well, mine has about 8 tanks of gas through it.

His stopped oiling the chain, he cleaned it and it worked fine after.

Mine stopped prior to his, I've cleaned it with no success.  I've bored out the EPA hole, no success.  However, I did not have a lot of time to work on it so I've not gone any further.  I'm posting more as a bookmark, but I've noted that some people have this problem and it does not seem great for a fix.

I'm going with a thorough cleaning and validation the pump and so forth is not busted.   This thread is interesting though.

Thanks for the input ceyko, with so many people having the same problems on brand new or nearly new husky's, it shows the problem is an design issue or cheap faulty parts.

I hope we can all figure out exactly what part is failing and why. And post it here so others will know as a future reference.

Check and make sure the clutch drum is spinning the driver and the driver is spinning the oil pump

Thanks for the input jmester. I will inspect both closely as soon as I tear into it. Just been really busy the past couple days, but hopefully will have some time to get to it soon.

I wish there was a way to Upgrade the Oiling system on this 450. If there was, I would do that instead of just replacing a cheap faulty part with another cheap part which will probably fail after a short time too.

Does anyone know by chance if there is another oiler system, or better yet, an Adjustable Oiler that would fit the Husky 450??  ???

Thanks

I'll certainly post up if I find a work around/root cause.

On saturday I did not have a ton of time, but I removed the clutch, the cover and THOUGHT I blew out the oiler gear and hose enough.  I also did a quick pop of air into the section where the oil comes out of the chain saw.  When I did that oil just POURED out of the machine.  At that point I drained all the oil as well in case there was a chunk of sawdust or something that was causing a problem.  I also lazily cleaned everything and overall did not do a very good job of that.

Reassembled, tested and there was 0 oil coming out.

On sunday, I did the exact same.  Except I did everything a lot more detailed.  Cleaned everything thoroughly, also blew the hose out a lot better.  I noticed the part that goes into the oil hole sort of seemed to clear out and then oil that was in the hose blew out (did not do that the day before).  I also put a burst of air on that screen that does not seem easily removed.

When I reassembled everything after that, it took a second for the oil to start flowing but when it did it seems to be in line with the way it was when new.

I could not visibly see nay dirt/dust in the lines though, so I'm not sure if it was clogged or if air was causing an issue...etc.  In other words, all I did is a glorified cleaning and it worked.  I do not know the root cause if it was dirt, air related or a general mechanical issue.  I'm leaning towards dirt/air related since my neighbor has the exact saw with a lot more time on it and he does not have these issues as of now.

It was nice learning that side of the saw though.  I did not look forward to taking it to a "pro" and paying for a fix.  :)

I would not surprise me that it was dirt or debri.  If enough gets into the pump it can ruin it.

Good job on getting it working again.
