Yes.  Here in the US they were imported/sold for a short time, and then recalled.  Supposedly they were going to be available again in September of this year.  Didn't happen.  I know a guy that demo'd a pre-production 661 for three months a while back.  After that, he ordered a production saw....................and they were recalled right when his arrived at the shop.  He's still waiting.  That's a long time to be out $1K-ish for a work saw.....

For older saws:
Tune the H side so that it 4-strokes (burbles) at WOT unloaded and just cleans up when under load.
When you lift cutting load, the saw should immediately revert to 4-stroking.  Fine tune the transition point for the wood you're cutting.

once your stihl distr. sells the remainder of the 660's you will get your 661's , its just a normal game they play but they know the 661 is better than the 660s so better sell thou 660s first or they will be stuck with them

A faller in BC got to run one last week at a falling class. He's not sure if it was the 70 cc or a bigger one. Had a 36" stihl light bar on it.

The new saw doesn't look at all like the 372 and not all have been sent back.

Is there any word on when the expected release will be?

As the 550 is the 562's little brother, this is the big brother. No word on when yet. They're taking their time. It's not right to think of it being late or delayed. But guys have started a countdown on something no one was supposed to know about, so that impression is to be expected.

A countdown might be a let down for it is not coming until they have things like they want it?

When it comes it's here!
