Reading that it has an inboard clutch should not be a reason to draw automatic conclusions. Picking it up might reveal the saw to be a great handler. The 372 has an inboard clutch and people don't complain that it handles poorly. The impact of clutch location on a larger frame 70cc saw is different than on a smaller frame 50cc saw.

I agree that the impact is smaller than on smaller saws, and the bar that is on the saw surely is a factor.

However, lots of people have said that they prefere the handling of the 272xp over the handling of the 372xp, and I am sure that is caused mainly by the outboard vs. inboard clutch!  ;)
I'll be the first to admit I like my 272's handling over my 372. I like limbing and bucking big hardwood with my 272XP and it's nicely balanced inside centered b/c sure is nice to work with. The bulkier wide spread to the right 372 b/c makes me feel like I'm all thumbs ha ha.
But since I got my 562XP with outboard clutch I have since put my 272 into retirement, hoping one day to get it full race modded.

I also prefer the handling of my 272XP over the 372XP's that I've ran.

There is no doubt that an outboard clutch makes a better handling saw, provided the designer of the saw knew what he was doing, and why! Husky designers do know. ;)

Well the replacement to the 372XP is on my 'just buy it' list! Do not need another saw but have to learn about the new saws before a customer comes in with one. I wonder if there will be a new version of the carb firmware specifically for the larger saw. Logic says yes but who knows.

Spike60 when you get word they are on the way set one aside for me!

the newer husky that nobody has seen yet is all orange with a silver clutch cover :D the clutch cover looks identicle to a 372 one too so making the saw all orange might be possible. ;) the one i ran did not have captive bar nuts and looked to have the same large dawgs as a 372 as well. the bar nuts looked out of place though so it is a possibility that the captive ones fell off and was repaired with the old style. it's gonna be a saw that will make everyone forget the 372
fact of the matter is that i have seen and ran the new husky while everyone else here is just left wondering :D ya'll won't be disappointed though. i'm tempted to just start selling off all my other saws right now cause that's the only saw i need once it's in my possession.
it was pulling a 36" no problem. to be honest though, a 372 pulled full skip around a 36" pretty good in our woods too but this one did it far better. i can't wait.
the day before a ran that prototype i ran a 562 building a heli pad. it's really hard to compare though as the 562 was setup with a 24" and the mystery saw setup with a 36". the 562 did have a very minor hesitation issue but the mystery saw did not. the 562's hestation was dealt with by **** revving it all to hell.

Stihl has the Unicorn (661).  What do we call the 572 mystery saw?  Bigfoot maybe?

I'm not sure. Maybe a dragon, or a Loch Ness monster

Spike60, whatever they call it, I WANT TWO. Have lots of customers wanting to know about them now. Mostly pro-cutters, want to have something for them to see and run, then send them to you for purchase!
