New Bolt-On Test Kits Available Soon.
« on: July 24, 2013, 05:16:02 pm »
I left the other site because I had completed necessary market research and needed to focus on a new venture. Over the time I was there research showed and was validated by member opinion that there was room in the market for a series of 'bolt on performance' kits that could be installed by the average guy, without need for complex machine work or hunting for just the right mix of OTS parts.

We have worked with the better class of after market component vendors to come up with the first set of test kits for the Husqvarna 365/37X series of non-x-torq saws based on a 52mm BB cylinder. These are not intended to surpass a custom ported saw by any means, however, for a guy looking for a little more power from his stock saw without the expense of a one-off saw these might be just be the ticket!

Our design goals were:
Use only the highest quality after market or OEM components.
All necessary machine work already completed
Saw could easily be returned to stock
Custom base gaskets to maintain a squish of between .018-.022
Basic kits are essentially 'stage-1' with additional stages being available  as they are developed.

In a few days the web site should be up so that those interested in getting one of the dozen or so kits that I will make available for testing can sign up. Not yet sure if the test kits will be free or at minimal cost. Don't think the rules here will allow me to post a link but I am sure someone will let me know.

I guess you needs to tell who actually makes the kits?

As I hope all can understand, we will not be releasing our suppliers until final agreements have been agreed and signed. Rest assured however that the suppliers are well known in the industry. All test kits will be white box and require a signed NDA returned to us prior to shipment.

Also in order to maintain the highest level of quality control we have opted to only use 'A Spec' versions of things like pistons.

Oh my i have one tore down right now that I would love to to test one of the kits out on. I could swing a little if needed for the kit. Good thing is I have a  Tree Sling'r ported 50mm top end, and a Hyway 52mm BB kit I could compare it to also with video while i am at it. I will have to get some help, but I could also get the timing numbers on all of them while I was at it if the masses would like it.

OK, here is the deal on these,

1 we started out with a BB 52mm kit
2 we built a BB 372 using a Hyway kit as the control all else was left stock except we left out the base gasket, had .026 squish.
3 we built a stage 1 saw using a modified 52mm piston in place of the Hyway BB piston.
3(a) we developed a custom set of annealed soft copper gskeets which will allow the end user to set the squish anywhere between .018 and .022 allowing for tolerance between cases and cylinders.
4 we built a dual port muffler on the mufflers made in Brazil for Husqvarna.
5 we changed the carb and intake to that used by a 365/372 X-Torq
6 we then changed the carb to a 390XP carburetor.

Steps 4,5,6 will be optional stage 2,3 and 4.
We did this so that the end user could go as far as their expertise or budget allowed.

We have been testing for over three months by giving test saws out to our customers. Our customers are pro arborists who need saws with consistent performance over time and minimal down time.

These are designed to be work saws that out perform stock saws, not custom one off saws, saws that can be maintained by the owner

Sounds awesome! I am so glad someone has done this. Probably won't affect saw builders because your always gonna have people that don't turn their ow wrenches.

We are in the process of making an instructional video that takes the end user through all the steps of installing the kit. Our current thinking is to include the DVD with the kit. However one of the video guys suggested that we make the video available as a desperate product for those that would rather procure their own parts or use parts they already have on hand than buy the kit. What are your opinions on this? We would probably charge some nominal fee for the DVD somewhere in the 12-15$ range.

if they're buying the kit online, they can view the vid there aswell. why not just make the vid available to people free on your website? have a Q & A area aswell so if they run into issues with the kit, they can have somebody walk them through specific problems or concerns?

Great ideas, thank you. However we believe that viewing what will be a 1 plus hour video online would be a pain. Perhaps we shouldbreak it up into sections for viewing as steps in the process. Something like Before you start,  Tools needed, Tear down etc.
