New Silver on Husqvarna saws
« on: January 08, 2012, 11:20:22 am »
I think the guys getting these new husqvarna saws with the silver paint are not going to like the paint color after real use (for those worried about looks). I dont care what they look like personally.

I will take a pic of the silver clutch cover on my 2006 346 that cover was only put on the saw a year and half ago. Saw was used not waxed to be looked at and cut a cookie here and there.  :D

I have a picture somewhere of a friends 242XP that he used cutting pulpwood for a couple of years. The paint on the clutch cover and under the muffler on the crankcase was worn completely off to the bare metal. From repeated use of the 6 point limbing technique. All his pulpwood was cut and handpiled ,no skidder.
From checking the specs on that 242XP it was rated at 15,500 rpm and weighed only 10.3 lbs. :o

The 242/246 is my favorite saw of all. For the wood where I live it was all that
I needed. Waiting for a MS241 now, may be a new favorite.

Yes there is so many "new saws" coming out, I hope I live long enough to try them all out. :)
Seems like for the last 20 yrs while I was in my prime nothing much exciting in saw development happened.
