Is pistons different in ports and skirts too as well as hight?

This is fun stuff.

262 pistons there are many to get so for that reason it is not. But as a fun project I guess it is very interesting.

The 365 piston is 1mm taller overall, 1,5mm compression height from pin center to piston crown. 365 is also non window and has rounded corners on the skirt more than 262 piston.

Just an experiment to see what happens. I have done this sort of thing many times with some surprising results like, a Stihl 028S dome 46mm piston in a Husqvarna 55, runs and cuts like a much bigger saw, very high compression and 14500 no load 13200 in the wood with 18 inch bar .325narrow kerf chain.

There will be a new version of the tutorial posted today (1/25/2014) more work has been documented on the reassembly of the saw using the stock 262XP piston. We should be posting another more complete version early next week! I would still like to impose on your time to review the tutorial and offer your input.

Good morning! Saw in final stages of assembly. Passed leak-down test last evening took over 1m32s to get from 80 kPa to 62 kPa and just sat there at 62 until I got tired of watching it. Will have new complete draft version of tutorial document posted for review in a couple of days.

WOOOOOHOOOOO!!!! :o Has been a lot of work, perhaps it will help some folks out.

Next, we will be adding an addendum to the base document covering the experiment using a 365 SPecial piston in place of the 262XP piston. We will be doing this on another 261 so that we can publish a comparison video of the two saws. If I can figure out how to make and post a video!
