New versions of updated husqvarna 550 545 coming
« on: November 14, 2018, 06:51:21 pm »
Sounds like the husqvarna 550xp and 545 is getting the 572 type upgrades. = 550xp Mark II is supposed be out sometime next year. They are updating 545 too.
Saws looks like a mini 572 to me. Changes are significant, including a new crankcase. Most of what they have done with the 572 is being applied to these saws. Heat barrier, air filter, muffler, auto-tune 3. Think it gains a half pound, but power is supposed to be up a little as well.
There are no IPL's, prices, dates or anything posted anywhere on the dealer site, so there are obviously no answers to any of the usual questions we have. As we've seen with most saws, ya can't put much faith in dates to begin with.

more = Have some super fresh new Info, it shares a lot of 572/565 design elements. New bearings, better heat reduction through a new muffler and cover design, filter is also improved like on the 565/572. But.... there's always a but.... the saw is nearly 400g/ 0,8lbs heavier now. It is more like a reconstruction than a refresh or facelift.

more = (husqvarna dealer) who was on this (almost secret) presentation last week, said the new 550 is now rated with 3.0kW, to compete against the new, lighter 261 with 3.0kW. He said the 550/545 is basically a smaller version of the new 565/572xp, they share a lot of design elements. It has not much in common with the old 545/550xp design.
He said also a Husqvarna engineer told him on the presentation, the *s-word has hit the fan in sweden about the 550xp, to much problems since release years ago, so they decided to do this complete redesign.

What is that about 12 to 14 ounces = .8 or 400g.   That would put it in the 12lb + range if so.

All I know is I liked how the old ones handled.
Didnt like how the OE 261 handled being heavier. But cut good.

Big things coming from Husqvarna in 2020 with bigger displacements in the 5 series.

You got to face it the 550/560/562 series is now over 10 years old and these saws started a technology and design standard and the MS462 is still not even introduced in USA yet.
I like to see the 550 in 60cc. 562 in 70 and the 572 in 80-100cc displacement. Their latest HD bottom ends can definitely handle a bigger P/C. ;)
Making a living with a saw since age 16.
