You don't have to press "reply" first, you can go directly to the post you want to quote, and press "quote". Then a "quick reply" text window opens, with your quote already there.

What you describe is how I anticipated it would work.  It's how it works on some other forums.  But if I try I don't get a reply window,  I get what looks like a text window,  one line deep,  that I can't write into,  and there are no toolbars above it or options below it.  My PC is Win XP with Explorer 8,  so maybe that's contributing.

Works fine for me just like Gregg says it is supposed to work.

drop down and select post to quote
Quoted text appears in the editor window all formatted and everything
I add my comment to the bottom and press POST
