I don't have a 154 but my ventures with the oil pumps on other chainsaws goes along with the longer stroke the more oil flow theory.

Also the plastic oil flow adjusters get worn off on the ends to where there is less stroke of the piston.

Therefore any oil pump with much use on it at all needs to have new repair parts installed.
We should share what we know... someone may learn...
