Husqvarna 41 and 455 Rancher Both Leak Bar Oil Bad
« on: August 15, 2014, 09:23:01 am »
Hi All, Both of my saws leak out the bar oil when not in use. I mean it's bad - all of it leaks out and I have a huge oil puddle on my garage floor. Anyone else have this problem? Is there a fix? I tried leaving the saws in different positions and with the oil cap a bit loose and still no luck. Thanks in advance!!! If I can't get this fixed I'm going to sell these saws and go Stihl.

Check the oil lines going to the pump, on both saws.

I've seen Stihl saws settin with a puddle of oil under them too...

Pull the clutches, remove the plate covering the oil pump and have a look. Post pics if you don't see anything obvious.

I've had stihl and dolmar marking their territory too.  Just a saw thing, not a maker thing.

I have a 455 and it leaks a little bit but not big puddles.   But I always drain my saws of oil when letting them sit because they all do it.

OK, I'll check the lines and pumps. If I don't find anything I'll just drain the oil after each use. Thanks guys!!!

Look under the saw behind the sprocket / clutch.  you will see a screw slot to place the screwdriver turn it left or right. It will increase or decrease the oil flow. But seeing oil is a good sign that your bar is getting enough oil . And little oil you have a risk of overheating the bar...

Most of mine leak a little oil. Some leak a lot.
