Chainsaw Repair

Ok- I just bought a Husky 580 backpack blower to replace an older, less powerful Sthil. I also bought a 555 XTorq saw from the same dealer last fall. while i was waiting for the mech to assemble the blower, he asked if I needed oil and I said no, I had a six pack+ of Stihl oil on the shelf.
He then harangued me about how bad that would be for the blower- gunked carb, loaded exhaust valve, burned rings, scored cylinder, on and on till it made me cry    (he never said that with the saw tho'...)

Anyway, $14 and a six of Husky oil later, I'm asking other owners what their experience is. I can believe there might be a difference what with Stihl and their funky 4 stroke BS, but is it so bad I need to keep 2 types of gas now?

Stihl Ultra has a bigger following than the Husky oil.

Either would be fine in any of your 2 stroke air cooled machines. The mechanic was full of BS.

The right type of Klotz would be fine too.

What a load of BS. The Stihl oil will work just fine, he is worried about losing sales. The OEM's normally specify a richer mix  when not using their brand, performance suffers, carbon builds up, the unit smokes  and the customer is not happy. Therefore, use only our brand ka-ching ka-ching.

Amsoil saber at 40-50:1 will burn cleaner than the stihl as well. It's not expensive and on the shelf at several auto parts places.

I had a fellow here in town give me some of the Amsoil and I have run a bunch of it also.   No complaints here.
