Man, life is just too busy!   I haven't touched it yet, but boy do I have a story to tell you!

After I bought the saw, it was months before I got to using it.  In that time, I had decided to stay away from that other forum.  There was a lot of garbage there, and the owner was doing some things I saw as dishonest, so I just cut all ties.  I mean ALL ties.  Then I lost the email address of the guy I bought it from, and had no way to get back to him when it wasn't running right.  I didn't even remember his name.

So, I just chalked it up to a bad purchase on my part, and figured I'd have to eat it.

Well, turns out he hangs out here.  After I posted this thread, the guy PMd me and offered to make it right!   :o

 ;D

I'm not sure if I should post his name, as it's kind of a two edged sword.  The saw has never been right, so that's not good (but it was his first 576), but man, on the integrity scale, he's a 10!    My hat is off to him!  He could have just kept quiet and nobody would have known anything else.

I told my family about this, and used him as a good example to my boys of how a man of integrity behaves.  Outstanding!

He's not giving a full refund, and I don't think he should!   In fact, after all this time, I don't think he owes me one thin dime.  But, he's made a very generous offer of helping with the cost of this repair.

I'm impressed, and I'd do business with him again any day!

He told me to contact spike or terry for a quote.  So, spike or terry, PM me if you'd like, and we'll get this thing done.

Spike is a great guy, and is both a dealer and chainsaw addict like the rest of us! :-) He will do right by you!

Well, it's been over a week, and I haven't heard from spike or Terry.  I sent PMs or emails to both.   Dunno why, but I guess they don't need the sale......   ???

Guess  I'll order from the link that Cut4Fun posted.   :)

If you order from the one place that is a member here you can get 10% off your order. (cant think of name off hand)

Found it. link above and this.

Whenever you guys order online at www.hlsproparts.com you can look for the coupon code box and type the word "chainsaw" and it will give you 10% off. Just a little customer appreciation from HL Supply. Thanks

I've ordered from them a few times and have enjoyed the discount. They are quick to ship. If it is in stock, it goes out immediately.

Sounds good.  Do I need to worry about fit?  What I mean is, is there one part number for serial numbers [whatever] through [whatever],, or they all the same for the 576 XP autotune?

And while I'm at it, what tools will I need?  A clutch tool, I'm sure.  Anything else exotic?  Metric Allen heads, I assume....
