Would you use these?
« on: February 21, 2014, 11:45:25 am »
In an attempt to try to repair the damaged 371 case in another thread I went looing to see if I had a pair of cases that I could just give the guy. What I came up with are a pair of 372 cases that were on a saw that was in a flood and has some oxidation damage in the crank well area.

What do you think use or toss em into the scrap metal barrel?

White death is hard to stop.

You might look at ways people have claimed to stop its progression?

Surprisingly, palm trees are very corrosive to chainsaws. If you live where palm tress are and saw into one, you best disassemble all the clutch and pump area when done and clean it thoroughly or you will have white death in behind that area.

We have major issues with work saws from Palm and Agave eating out the magnesium if they aren't completely disassembled and cleaned.  Devcon titanium works great for magnesium/ aluminum although it costs a lot.   Probably cheaper to get some used cases! Lol

I just split the 371 cases that I wanted to try and fix. I will clean them up a bit and post some pictures. You can see for yourselves the broken ear.

They looked pretty corroded to me.   I think I would stick to the original cases.
