Didnīt we find a different sprocket cover for it as well? You had two different starter right?

Good to read you!

The starters is odd. This one has older, small, square decal one as well as newer. But steel framed break handle.

White top 61 was in Praktica series here first, then named Rancher and was Rancher with gray cover too. I think the last was orange and no rancher.

I think we get confused as there is different saws for different markets and we don't get to see all no matter were we are.
I don't see many of the export saws here like 562, 66, 166. Here is a couple odd ones I have in collection: 445SE/SG, 644.
Odd versions and models pop up constantly.

I agree with that, but the 445SE/SG is news to me. I don't think many in the US (or outside Scandinavia) are aware of the 344FE/FG either.

Back to the "60", the starter cover with the small rectangle and the metal chain brake handle (+ the "gray") fits with the mid to late 1980s, but the other starter cover looks like a newer design?

Maybe this could be a results of thoughts about keeping the 61 R. in production, also after it was replaced by the (orange top) streight 61, with a larger carb and a higher power output?

If so, it was just as well that nothing really came out of it....

That number somehow points me to a 1989 IPL for the Husky 61 when searching on the Barret site - but the part number itself isn't listed in the IPL (cylinder only never is in Husky IPLs).  ???  ;D

Additional indications that it is a Husky 61 cylinder was found in old posts at Magnus' collectors forum, so I assume that is what it is.

However, this does of course not explain what was the point with the "60" - so the mystery is still on.... ;D
