Tested 3 372 today
« on: June 26, 2011, 06:01:55 pm »
I ran 2 ported 372 and 1 stock one. I am not going to mention which is stock or the 2 ported ones till after timing etc.

Big Bore 372 52mm , 50mm 372 , 50mm 372.   Yes I know the BB throws things off but that is what I had to use right now.

I put brand new never used woodsman pro 3/8 RC chain (same chain and bar on each saw)  and switch them all to 7T so the stock one wouldnt struggle ( if it would on such small wood I dont know).

After we time them and comment. I will figure out which is which.  ;)

None of this saws would hold a candle to the PP375 I used to have  :'(.

Just a crappy dried out punky piece of yellow tulip poplar I had on hand.

I'm not going to comment on the stock saw because that one looks familiar. ;) but the 3rd saw seems to hold higher rpm's in the cut. They all are very close though.

Just wanted to mention no pop up pistons in the ported saws and no super tight squishes that make you side cut the plug or run a different plug for clearance. Like a colder Bosch WS5E which by the way is in all 3 saws and new. Had them left over from the alky saws.

Last week the "big" 372 build off and gtg in TN. didn't run a stock saw for a comparison when they test cut the ported saws. I still wonder where the stock saw would have placed in the group of ported saws.  Without a base line of 5 cuts with the stock saw, we'll never know what % the builders have gained. As most of you know, there has been stories of some of these builder "not" improving there ported saw. What that build showed me was, learn to build your work saws yourself, otherwise you're basically getting ripped off. There were some "non pro" builders that did well.

The strongest stock 372 50mm I have seen to date is north of me in Sandusky ( I would swear it was ported when I test cut with it). It has been muffler modded and running full wrap USA handlebar. It would be one to compare to.

All 3 of these saws have had spark screen pulled and muffler mods. The stock one is just screen pulled and outlet opened up wider and a couple holes drilled in the front.

I think I have that stock saw mentioned above times at a gtg or two. I could compare. I think one of the gtg's we traveled together and I think he had really gooood chain to run too at that one.
