This is a good thread to talk about aftermarket stuff in.  Very informative to read.

My only question would be do you want this thread moved up into the husqvarna board?

I'll discuss it on PM but not on the boards. Can build another one if you see a value.

Bought yet a third 52mm "Dark" top end for 40 bucks from eBay seller "machinesdoctoronline"... Looks like they even used the same picture as huztl!   So... now I want to ID the source of those cylinders.

WD, the first 372 52mm BB jug with 064 piston I did I used a Meteor piston. Then I did a couple for a local arborist using OEM Stihl pistons and custom annealed 0.010 copper shim stock gaskets. PITA to cut them but they work. Like Cut4fun said above you can't mess with the ports because of skirt width on the OEM pistons. Actually both saws are still running strong!

I don't do really off the wall saws for my pro customers because they are after reliability not race saws. I usually do 1/2 5/8 mods to the mufflers on these saws, so will be interested in how your larger diameter ones work out. Send me a PM about where you are getting the ceramic bearings if you care to share. Have built one saw using them and really have no opinion yet. I have read though that they run cooler than steel but have a shorter life span by about 20%. Don't know what this means in a saw so will be interested in what you find.

OBTW every one of those Chinese cylinders are a crap shoot, I have found that you cannot calculate anything based on the last one you used, they just vary too much, manufacturing QC is crap. I have had the most consistent results with Hyway and Raisman Platt (Brazil) being next. The Raisman jugs I have used all seem to have a slightly smaller combustion chamber than the OEM equivalent and the Hyway jugs which sometimes works out well especially in the smaller <60cc saws.

I have a 372 case that is shot, the white death! However I red necked it into a tool. I cut away the excess metal around the cylinder deck. I bolt down the shim stock to it and use a Dremel tool with the routing attachment and a very small rotary bit to cut out the annealed copper gaskets. I use a gasket to get the bolt placement holes marked, use a self centering punch to mark the centers and punch them out using a hammer driven metric leather punch to make the holes then use flanged M4 5mm by 20mm metric bolts to hold the copper in place and just rout out the gasket. Then put the finished gasket on the stove and heat until dull red and let cool.

I used to work with a old MX racer from Calif in Turkey.   Name was Ted Rogers and told me he used to race some of the top names out west.

I'm thinking this is his info. Lost track of him in 86.

In 1976 I was signed on as a Husqvarna Support rider and finished #2 In CMC and #1 in AME.  1977 I had a good year but was injured towards the end.  I finished #4 in Northern California CMC, #2 AMA Dist 36 and #2 in AME.  This year I rode Hangtown in the National class and was running in 5th for the first 6 laps until I got taken out.  I won 11 straight races in both 250 and open class this year and that was really cool.  Darrell Shultz (Future ama 500 Champ) Danny Magoo Chandler, and Danny Turner had some awesome battles this year with me getting the most wins.  1978 I signed on with KTM as a support rider and was limited to the open class.  I had another good showing and ventured into Southern and Central California to race.  I did well and beat many of the hotshot locals down south and in the north and finished 4th in CMC, 10 AMA Dist 36 and 5 AME.

Sponsors during the above time period were, KTM, Husqvarna West, KRW Helmets, Dunlop Tires, FOX Shocks and Gear, High Point Boots, Scott Goggles, Gold Belt, Bel Ray Oils, and NGK Sparkplugs.

I was out of Motocross for 12 years while serving in the United States Military.  In 1991-1996 I won five gold medals in the Police Olympics for motocross.  During this time period I was again riding a KTM out of MPC motorsports in Roseville California.  Sponsors after turning expert again were Moose, Bell Helmets, Bel Ray, and Dunlop Tires.  All of my motor work was done by FMF, and White Brothers took care of the suspension.

I recently started back up for my final push back to the Expert and I really would like to turn pro again but we will see.  I purchased a new RMZ450 2007 model and have just started to ride it on a regular basis.  My main Goal is another gold in the Western Police Olympics and I would like to race the Eastern Police Olympics in North Carolina this year.  I will be riding many local races trying to make it back to the expert class.  I also want to ride the Vet Worlds this year if I can get my speed back.

I have always been a very level headed rider and believe in good representation of my sponsors.  I have never talked bad about any sponsor and regard them all very highly.  As a Police Officer I know first hand the importance of acting the part and from my immaculate riding gear to a well prepped bike I live it.

We need to compare the HyWay "Dark" cylinder to the ones from Huztl...
If you used 1194 on both sides of the copper would you have to anneal it?
