What kind of compression? I had saws that felt good by feel pop pop pop, but didnt start either and had a partial stuck ring for just a 1/8" or less.

 Use a gauge and pull over till reading stops. 120 or better  I hope you see.

Also pull muffler and take a look at piston and rings.
