Husky 36/41/136/141 Engine Swaps.
« on: December 17, 2013, 01:56:48 am »
I've read that this saw series shares crankcase/crank architecture with some Poulan saws such as the Poulan 2775.  Has anybody taken the p/c from a 46cc or 49cc variant of those Poulan saws and swapped them into the 36-141 Husky series?  IIRC, all these engines from 36-49cc have the same 32mm stroke.  Just differences in bore, with the 46cc and 49cc versions being 43mm and 44mm respectively.

I just got a PP295, and am not terribly impressed with the feel of the rather wimpy spring AV hardware.  I like the 'firmer' feel of the AV setup on these little Husky saws (more like my 272XP).  Not hard to find a cheap 36/41/etc with a roached engine. Hmmm.  May have to do some tinkering if I scare up a cheap roached 36/41.....

I've got a bunch of NOS stuff for this series.  If you need something let me know.  I know i've got some bar to case protectors.  That's all I remember off the top of my head.  I think a tank handle too.

Thank you Shep.  If/when this project get's off the ground I'm sure I'll be contacting you about some part or another.

yep,
I have done it a couple of times.  there is a 46cc craftsman and it swaps right over.  it is actually 42.5mm and you may be able to make something work with a stihl ms 250 piston.

Cool.  Thanks for the info.  I'm guessing the 46cc Craftsman is probably a rebadged PP295/4620 family saw.  Now to scare up a cheap 36/41 carcass.  I think one of my local friends has one stashed under the bench...
