Title: My Modified PP 260
Post by: 3000 FPS on August 11, 2012, 10:41:05 pm
So I have this PP260 that I decided to do a bunch of different modifications to.  All the mods are what I consider to be mild but I changed alot of different things.  I did the bar and chain, the muffler, the port openings and timing, and the ignition timing.  I could not be happier with the results of this saw.   Today I did a comparison with a completely stock 295 that I have and beat the 295 by 2 seconds through a 11" log of elm that is dry and hard.  It shows me that when you take in the whole package of mods you can see great gains from these saws with out radical modifications.  This saw is going to be alot fun when cutting up small wood in the future.  Here is a pic of when I was doing the ignition timing, advance by 6 degrees.

If you are running 3/8LP aka Picco. Throw a loop of stihl PS3 on it and test with.   ;)

I had not heard of the ps3 before.   So I just got through reading your thread from April 2011 about it.  The chain sounds very impressive and think I will have to take you up on that suggestion.  Thanks Roger.
