Title: Jonsered 2159W
Post by: Old Iron Logging on August 14, 2012, 07:51:39 pm
Had a 2159W come in the mail today. Nice looking saw, has a odd hole in the muffler however.  ;) Heated handles work as well.

Its probably one of those Ontario specials from a few years back. Wouldn't mind a 2152 to go along with it.

Did it have a washer welded onto front of muffler? If so that muffler mod always reminded me of Mr. Bill.  :D

No washer, just a hole.

No washer, just a hole.

Tried to find a pic of my old 357 muffler. Cant tell and I cant remember how it was done. I do remember how the 361 was though.  ;) O O O

I remember that 361. I have a stock one now that is much stronger than that one. It took 4 361s before I got one that was worth keeping.

Art you wouldnt believe how strong that 361 ran down here. Very impressive stock with muffler mod.

It's down in TX now keeping warm.

I knew a 361 should run well somewhere. A 2159 could easily outpower any 361 I had, except my current 361. I split the muffler and gutted it. Good power now.

Almost time to turn the handles on..
That was my favorite saw for a long time, notice the address and phone number engraved on the bottom?

I never put a stopwatch to it, but was always told the 361 I had would beat that 2159, it just never felt like it though.
I did watch my buddy use my 361 on his processor, while I hooked up the pull rope, and it did impress me, from a distance, once.
The new owner of it is head over heels about it..

I now have a 346NE that will beat it, its OMG strong  in bigger wood for a little saw, I like it better than the 2159.A 2153 would make a good match.

You don't mind straight handles Art ? I almost prefer them.
I was noticing a while back some of my firewood blocks cut on a bit of an angle, so I would close my eyes and lay the 346 on the block, the saw/bar was crooked all the time.
Guess its just what your used to.
Treat her nice please.

I don't mind the Jon front handle. Grew up on handles like that. I am taking it easy on the 2159. Only ran 2 tanks thru it so far, plus 13 seconds of racing. If I get laid off this winter and go back in the bush, the heated handles will sure be nice.
Still need a good lightweight. 261 or 346 will do until my 241 gets here.
