Title: 6400-7900 New Green Oil suction hose
Post by: farmboy on September 09, 2012, 02:09:15 pm
Is there a trick to install the new green hose?  I tried everything I knew which isn't much.  Thought I was going to pull it in two trying to pop it in.  The service manual is worthless.  Not much if any better than the IPL.

Is this the one they say use silicone on?

Oil lines
The oil screen 1 must be cleaned periodically.
The oil suction line 2 connects the oil tank and oil
pump.
When inserting the suction line into the hole in the
crankcase coat the collar with silicone paste

Note the position of the lug 3!
Then insert the angle nipple 4 and oil hose 5.
The oil pressure line 6 links the oil pump a

I have silicone paste so that is no problem

But

I would think that a little oil on the hose in the area of the flanges and a Popsicle stick to help nudge the inside flange through the hole would work?

Found a can of silicone spray.  Finally popped in last night.  How do you get the av spring out of the cap to put the screw in?  Both AV spring kits I bought the springs are wedged (overtightened @ factory) in the cap.  Service manual says spray w/freeze spray???? to unscrew.  They should put the dang screw in @ factory.  The r/f comes w/screw.

Sounds like you might want to put them in the freezer to shrink down.

I think the spring tension of the coils are holding it?
