Title: 028AV hot start
Post by: eli-dream on October 02, 2012, 02:13:21 pm
I pulled the old beast out of the shed after of many years of not running.  Wasnt getting any spark so I replaced the points and condensor.  Put some Mechanic in a bottle in some fresh fuel in it and 8 pulled later it was running.  I ran it for a while as directed but when I left it move back to idle it stalled and wouldn't re-start.  Next day it started well and did some cutting- went to start it a few minutes later and it wouldn't start or even act like it wanted to.  It did hold idle on the second day.  I'm thinking since it started cold it is not spark related, but fuel.  Any ideas??

I pulled the old beast out of the shed after of many years of not running.----------You answered your own question with that statement . It sat for many years and more than likely the carbs' innards are stiff as a board .

What happens more times than not with a shelf sitter is it might run for a day or so then it's about like the carb gets full of concrete .The thing stiffens up and it refuses to start ,it might idle and it might not .Rebuild the carb it will run more than likely .
