Title: Stihl DET302
Post by: davbell22602 on December 09, 2012, 03:51:41 pm
Anybody ever tried taking one of these apart and replacing the battery that has the soldiered on it? Mine quit working but got very little use but alot storage life in the original box.

I took mine apart and found soldiered wire on a battery.

I have heard of people replacing the batteries in other sealed tachs before. Had good results.

Thats one of the first tachs I used and like with the fast .5 refresh rate.

I also bought the stihl edt-5 so I had the replaceable battery.. Dont get the newer tachs by stihl a 7 and 8 to slow IMO.

So do I use a soldiering gun to reheat the soldier to remove the wire from the battery.

I got my DET302 at dealer cost from a former employer back in 97. I think I paid $80 back then for it new.
