Title: Walbro Preset Adjustment on Lombard Chainsaw
Post by: davbell22602 on January 04, 2013, 06:46:10 pm
Whats the walbro preset adjustment on a SDC carb? I got one that chokes but then after that it floods itself. I already put a rebuild K10-SDC kit on it. 1 1/2 from snug on L,H and idle?

Are you referring to the metering lever height?  if so it should be set using a straight edge on the carb body if you have changed the welch plugs check carefully for leaks as this is a known problem on this carb. If this is not the problem you refer to please explain more fully theprblem you wish to solve

I'm referring the adjusting screws.

AFAIK  1 1/2 turns is the magic number for both needles and where I would start at after a rebuild.

Yours sounds like the gaskets and the diaphragm are out of order on the metering valve.

What I'm talking about is that on the pump side of the carb, the diaphragm goes against the carb body and then the gasket.

On the metering valve or demand regulator side of the carb, the gasket goes against the carb body, then the diaphragm and cover.

If you get the wrong order on the regulator side, it holds the needle and seat open and the carb floods

Thats how I have it rebuilt. After i let sit overnite. I got to start up and run with squeezing the trigger.  When I had trigger squeezed it the rpms where racing then it just slowed and stopped. I couldnt get it to restart while it was warm/hot.

It may not be the carburetor itself.

Check the tank vent
fuel filter
Impulse lone or path
spark

Has new spark plug and someone else put new fuel lines on it. Is the tank vent on the fuel cap? Will check fuel filter and if it has one.

It has been probably 1960 since I've seen a Lombard chainsaw? I cannot remember anything specific about them.

Where was it on a Homelite xl or xl-12? It looks just like it. It has same red fuel cap except oil cap in under the muffler on the bottom. Has a manual oiler.

Its been 15 years since I looked at one of those old Homelites? I always assumed the cap was vented on them? I had a XL150 for over 20 years but never had a problem with it.  There's one in the back of the barn now.

If that thing is like the Al-42 series ,Comango it has a duck bill in the cap .If it's bad with a full tank it can blow gas like old faithfull .
