Never seen anything like this. Clip Spark new tool for checking spark etc. I usually just use a spark tester. Anybody seen anything on this or used one?
Guess it could help telling you the Proper Voltage, High Voltage, Low Voltage, No Voltage
The CLIP-SPARK engine ignition analyser is a highly accurate diagnostic sensor that uses the latest LED micro-circuit technology to
trouble shoot why your petrol powered work tools will not start, even works on car engines.
Quickly and safely tests engines for a proper spark
LED's will accurately indicate the condition of the ignition system Proper Voltage, High Voltage, Low Voltage, No Voltage
Hands Free operation, just clip on to the sparkplug wire
Works on both 2 stroke and 4 stroke engines
Simple and reliable eliminating all guesswork
Ideal for home, workshop or professional use
Patented Gripper Hook
CLIP-SPARK SAFELY tests for a proper spark, shorted or fouled plugs, and open or broken spark plug wires.
-
It's just an inductive voltage meter with LED post processing.
-
I bought this spark tester and have used it now for about 3 weeks. It is inductive and so far has worked great. I have had no false readings from it and being that it is inductive sure makes it simple and quick for diagnosis.
It was 35.00 dollars on ebay with free shipping.

Let me know what you think.
-
I've got a little bitty one made by Snap-On when I went to a factory class put on by Briggs and Stratton .It's basically nothing more than a neon tester. Weather right or wrong they claimed it is better to use some type tester than the old screwdriver to block trick .

I was using my spark tester the other day and got a red blinking light indicating low voltage. Found out it was the spark plug. Put in a new plug and got a green light and saw started right up.

I just use these. http://www.harborfreight.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=spark+tester Dont think they would tell me anything about the plug like yours just did. Thats cool.

I have one of those but sometimes I had a hard time seeing the light.

Any feedback Roger or others now with some time of use on them?

CHECKSPARK Spark Plug Analyzer Ignition Tester Tool

-
$32 and FREE shipping on feebay now. ;)
-
I also use the same one as Roger. Have for about six months now. Has yet to fail me and saves a bunch of time. I also had a low voltage indicator a while back, turned out not to be the plug but an intermittent short to ground. I think they work great.
-
Guess I better get one then. The low voltage for plug deal is what sold me.
Why pay someone 41-49 plus shipping when you can get them right here for 32 shipped free. http://www.ebay.com/itm/CHECKSPARK-Spark-Plug-Analyzer-Ignition-Tester-Tool-Check-if-OK-Spark-/171308302326?hash=item27e2c53ff6&item=171308302326&vxp=mtr

That IS where I got mine and price still the same
-
I am still using it at work and it saves a bunch of time for checking spark. I was even thinking about buying a second one because it is not that expensive.
-
When I went through those new bad NGK plugs that were breaking down. They would breakdown and miss and pop etc with little run time. I wonder what this tool would have showed?
Maybe could have saved me some trouble shooting time, because I was thinking plugs were dang near new. So I was looking at coil, carb, etc.
-
I got one of those too last November but have not used it yet.

I do not know if it would have found those plugs bad or not. I only use it when trying to start a saw to eliminate it as a problem straight off. It has not let me down.
-
Does the tester have a battery in it?
-
I believe it does, I will look at mine today and put up a pic and what type of battery it uses.
-
That is a good question, I do not recall. I can look the next time I go to work, but I do not think it does.
-
According to the manufacturers it uses 1 AAA battery which is included.

There you go I stand corrected. I guess I never had to change it.

Me neither, I just use the thing, had to actually go to the shop and look at mine to make sure!
-
The battery is probably used to drive the LED circuitry.
-
I suspect the same thing but in addition whatever circuit or chip is analyzing the inductive pickup results also. WAG!
-
Probably some kind of voltage divider circuit where the output trips the appropiate LED.
-
Something like that, I sort of snooped around inside and there is definitely more than one chip inside but on mine none of the chips have an industry number on them, only 'house marked' components. So, who knows what they do.
-
wow since this thread fired back up that link sold 145. New link for $32 shipped. http://www.ebay.com/itm/CHECKSPARK-Spark-Plug-Analyzer-Ignition-Tester-Tool-Check-if-OK-Spark-/171277745347?pt=Motors_Automotive_Tools&hash=item27e0f2fcc3
sponsor on other site sells for $42 and shipping.
I just ordered one from link above. 8) 8) Thanks for all the feedback guys on use.
-
Yes it has one AAA battery. I bought one of these about a month ago, it works good. And the guy who makes it is from Wisconsin.
-
Well if anything this thread has been good for something. The other seller lowered his prices to $32.99 to try and sell more on the sponsor only forum. :D :D :D ;)
Mine should be here shorty from the $32 WI seller in link here.
-
Well your original thoughts when starting this forum are proving to be correct. Sponsors paying or not should be aware of what the market will bare, not inflate prices just because they think or were told their sponsorship would equate to a captive buyer community!
-
I think he is getting alittle po'ed at me. When I can show him prices cheaper then what he says he is buying at. :D :D
-
Anyone have any experience/opinion on this?

Never seen one.
But the company makes top notch tachs. http://www.oppama.co.jp/eng/line/line1.html
-
Never seen one or heard of one.
-
Just seen where Termitebuffet posted that was what he used.
you can increase the range / distance thus stress the coil, to find weak ones .

Thanks Jim. Just what I was needing.
-
i have one and its quick and seems to do the trick works good on cars also
-
Had mine going on 2 years now.
Works well, and actually saves time.
-
Used mine checking 8 coils on my truck other day and then on that 4500.
Still use the old school one inline one too when I was doing that 031 checking for spark dying off while running.
