Title: husqvarna 40 wont lubricate chain
Post by: qwerty12 on March 07, 2013, 01:40:35 pm
Hello to al. I have an old husqvarna 40 and I have a litlle problem. It wont lubricate chain. Oil pump is ok. Chain bar and everithing else is clean. The problem is is the oil tank cap. should it let air inside? Does it has a hole? Or it should seal perfectly?

A driled few smal holes in cap and still I dong gat oil on chain. Just oil coming out :(

When I turn the chainsaw on and flip it aside and unscrew oil cap and give trotlle oil boils and comes out so thah means oil pump is ok?

Help...what to do to get my chain lubricated?

Sorry on bad english.

I think you mean that the tank vent for the oil tank is not letting air in.
It is not vented thru the lids, there is a hole some were were it sucks air in.
I forgot were it is on 40/45. I look tomorrow.

The most common problem that the sleeve is worn out and/ or the steal guide has come lose from the plastic cover  ,

also worm-drive can be worn, so you need to take of the clutch to get to de oil-pump ;D

I forgot the oil-line in the tank cold be broken also ::)

It is not ventilated on lids  ???
Than I made mistake piercing it with needle. Please look tomorow and if you can picture me where is that air vent hole...apparently mine is clogged.

dos it give oil when you don't trotle up ? if not, you need to replace the pump and rubbers!!!

This is the air vent!! ;D( the right oilcap)has no rubber sealing !!!

Thats right, Saul.
As they get over tightened the lid change shape and seal too good and won't let air thru.

There are 3 different pumps for it, one old not used, one for mineral oil and one veggie.

no hole in cap. the case is notched for venting. get a new cap and carry on.

There is a cut groove as in the pic Saul posted.
If cap is tightened to hard it will be deformed and cover the groove/hole.
A new cap is what you need...

yes. and for the price of the parts, even if they're suspect, just replace them.
