Title: 3.7 clutch cover

My Craftsman 3.7 has a plastic clutch cover.  Did the 3700's come with the same or metal? Also it tested at 150psi.Thin rings. Is that  good? P+C are real clean and it's a fairly low hour saw. I got it from original owner who bought it new.  Chris ???

I've seen metal and plastic. My 4000 had plastic.   

Other guys no more on this series.

I have 2 craftsmans 3.7 saws.  Both of those have plastic covers.    The 3700's that I have are magnesium.    I have seen covers for the 3700 poulans that were plastic but I do not have any.   

Also 150 PSI for a thin ring 3700 is within range for those saws although I have seen them up to 170 PSI.   If yours is low hours maybe it just needs more run time.   That saw with a 150 PSI will put a smile on your face.

Thanks fellas for the replies.   3000fps, This saw does put a smile on my face. Luckily the fuel tank was empty when I got it, and very clean. The oil tank was a different story.The carb was perfect inside. New gasket and diaphragm in the oil pump,new air and fuel filter, fuel lines and it fired up. Sounded like dirt bike. Now I'm hooked,LOL.    I read some Poulan literature that said the 3700 could pull up to a 32" b+c. What do you think?  Also was the HDB carb short lived?

I usually run a 20" bar and chain on the ones I have.    32" in my judgement is way to big.
I do not know about the carb but they seem to work good.

I've been studying Tillotson, Walbro, and Zama  a fair amount these days. I have 10 different series of carb on all my saws and needed to make a inventory check of repair kits.
If you check here, you can see they did not make many versions of HDB.  There are about 80 HDC and whole mess of HDA

dynodave, thanks for the input. The Walbro site is very helpful. I go there often. I've noticed not many HDB's , I wonder why.  The last rebuild kit I got for mine the circuit plate gasket wasn't quite right. It was a Sten's kit, guess I'll get a Walbro kit next time. Overall tho it seems to be a good carb. The Tillitson and Zama site's have been helpful to me as well.

I couldn't have survived the last 15 yrs or so without the factory carb sites
