Main reason for the multiple splitter is the crank stuffers in some models.  The 545-550,562-555 also have a specific splitter.

Prices have dropped recently.

The newest IPL, service tools (http://www.husqvarna.com/us/support/download-manuals/?query=Service+tools&types=I&brands=) I could find is from 2003.

Another place to look for them is in the Workshop Manuals.

Forget the piston stop and clutch tool- you just knock the clutch off, and none of them are needed!  ;)

Also, the 556 is missing in the heading of that list..... ;D

You will need the crank install tool as well.  Bearings are sensitive, early installation procedures at the factory were blamed on failures.

i bought 3 piston stops thinking i would need them. i used 1 one time, and it bent taking clutch off  ;D it came out a little dry,and would not go back in  ::)
so i went up to a schoolmates shop where he "whipped me up" 2 that work a lot better

If you look in the front of most service manuals they have the special tools list there. At least the couple I have do.
