Title: Homelite C-5
Post by: Cut4fun . on April 29, 2013, 06:57:32 am
Guy cleaning his shed out has one to move. I know nothing about them.

Dont know if it runs or what. But I figure some ole homelite lover here  might like them.

Suppose to cost me cost of shipping to get it,  as of right now.

One of the guys in our regular GTG group has one and it has to be one of the LOUDEST saws I have been around. My XP1020 sounds quiet next to that saw.  :D

Since you mentioned it my neighbor has his fathers with a cooked top end .If it's not cooked get it and I'll send you the money .

I got that old saw running after over twenty years of sitting in a barn dead .It ran fine until he loaned it out and I suspect somebody fed it straight gas because I had it set up rich .I think they are 77 cc's and run about like a 250 Mac which is 80 cc .Torgue but not much speed although not really a snail .

yeah i agree with sawnami. i may be the guy with the c5 he was referencing. then again, maybe not. mine has the stack muffler on it. loud doesn't begin to describe it. it actually hurts my ears. ear muffs are not an option if you ever want to hear again; they're a necessity.
just occurred to me why noone would stand close when i was cutting. lol

Some of those old saws really didn't have what is considered a muffler .It was just a short stack on the exhaust.

As far as ear splitters I probabley have one of the loudest .70 cc McCulloch model 6-10 with a completely gutted muffler that will free run tach over 15,000 RPM .It's loud enough to raise the dead and make hounds howl .
